Overview

These courses are targeted at the individual level of the student and will help students to progress and build up their confidence in the English language. Students are also given homework of two hours per week (average) to do at home which encourages them to take responsibility for their own learning.

SNT International College also offers preparation for the most popular Examinations: FCE, CAE and IELTS at no extra cost!

A1: GENERAL ENGLISH - Beginner

A 12-week foundation course focusing on activities appropriate for the beginner with carefully selected vocabulary to help students build confidence. There will be speaking and listening but also some reading and writing. Classroom activities are based on their usefulness for survival in an English-speaking environment and introduce the alphabet, numbers, going shopping, simple questions and negatives, filling in forms, etc., along with some social skills such as greetings, expressing feelings, etc.

A2: GENERAL ENGLISH - Elementary

A 12-week introductory course focusing on the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. By the end of this course, you will be able to make basic phrases in the past, present and future and use some polite language. You will understand short everyday face-to-face conversations, be able to read some short texts and write short sentences using some basic linking words.

A2 PLUS: GENERAL ENGLISH - Pre Intermediate

A 12-week course focusing on the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. By the end of this course, you will be able to make simple phrases in the past, present and future. You will understand short conversations, read short texts with vocabulary you know and write longer sentences using linking words.

B1: GENERAL ENGLISH - Intermediate

A 12-week course focusing on improving the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. By the end of this course, you will be able to talk about the past, present and future and cope well in everyday situations. You will understand short discussions at normal speed with a little repetition, including on the telephone, read a variety of text types with a little help from the dictionary and write two clause sentences.

B2: GENERAL ENGLISH - Upper Intermediate

A 12-week course focusing on improving accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. By the end of this course, you will be able to express your ideas and opinions in conversation with more fluency. You will be able to listen to native speakers and make notes, read quite quickly working out some unknown words from context and write various text types in an appropriate style.

B2 PLUS: GENERAL ENGLISH - Upper Intermediate (Exam Taster)

A 12-week course focusing on improving accuracy and fluency in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. The course also includes skills work and some exam techniques necessary for FCE and IELTS examinations. By the end of this course, you will be able to express your ideas and opinions in conversation and writing with more fluency. You will be able to communicate with native speakers with much more confidence. You will also be fully informed of both exams and be able to choose the best course for you to follow.

FCE: GENERAL ENGLISH WITH FCE EXAM PREPARATION

A 12-week course focusing on improving accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. This course also comprises daily sessions preparing students to take the FCE examination, including mock oral exams and lots of practical advice. By the end of this course, you will be able to use all tenses and express yourself freely, understanding authentic everyday language. You will also be able to read authentic materials without too many problems and produce good pieces of writing with few grammatical errors. You will be fully prepared to take the FCE examination.

B2 IELTS I/II: GENERAL ENGLISH WITH IELTS EXAM PREPARATION

A 12-week course focusing on improving accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation with a special focus on academic English, preparing students to take the IELTS examination. By the end of this course you will be able to use language appropriate for Further Education college courses in the English language. The course will help you to understand lectures and participate in discussions. You will also be able to read authentic materials and produce good pieces of writing. You will be fully prepared to take the IELTS exam. (Target - IELTS 5.0 - 5.5)

C1: GENERAL ENGLISH - Advanced

A 12-week advanced course focusing on improving accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and pronunciation. Students engage in communicative tasks which develop spoken fluency through a range of different skills-based activities. Students are introduced to more complex patterns and structures in the language along with some revision and extension according to students' needs. You will gain a solid base, which will enable you to communicate effectively and provide support for further study such as CAE or IELTS examination courses.

CAE: GENERAL ENGLISH WITH CAE EXAM PREPARATION

A 12-week course focusing on improving accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation. This course also comprises daily sessions preparing students to take the CAE examination, including mock oral exams and lots of practical advice. By the end of this course, you will be able to use all tenses and express yourself freely, with some mistakes. You will understand almost all of the conversations around you, read authentic materials without too many problems and produce good pieces of writing with few grammatical errors. You will be fully prepared to take the CAE exam.

C1 IELTS: GENERAL ENGLISH WITH IELTS EXAM PREPARATION

A 12-week course focusing on improving accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar & pronunciation with a special focus on academic English, preparing students to take the IELTS examination. By the end of this course, you will be able to use language appropriate for Higher Education/university courses in the English language. You will be able to understand lectures and participate in seminars. You will also be able to read authentic academic materials without too many problems and produce good pieces of academic writing with few grammatical errors. You will be fully prepared to take the IELTS exam. (Target - IELTS 6.5+)

C1 BUSINESS: BUSINESS

A 12-week course focusing on improving fluency and accuracy in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, with a special focus on English for business enabling students to function within the business world. By the end of this course, you will be able to communicate effectively in a variety of business situations. You will practise language appropriate to task through role plays, case studies, formal writing and discussion. The course will help you develop the skills necessary to boost your confidence and express yourself fluently in business situations.

C1 SKILLS: ADVANCED COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Feel you have had enough of studying grammar and vocabulary in class and would like to focus more on expressing yourself using your knowledge of the language? Then this 12-week course is what you have been looking for. Focusing on speaking and listening, you will be able to discuss a wide range of interesting topics through debates, role-plays and simulations through "real world" practice tasks. The course will help you develop the skills necessary to boost your confidence and express yourself fluently in real-life situations.
